Blue Skies and Green Lights

 

This informative and inspirational free event was organised by Somerset County Council, the Connecting Devon and Somerset Programme and  Plymouth University. It  focussed on new models of innovation and collaboration. It was held at Dillington House, Ilminster, Somerset on 9 July 2013

Delegates were able to take a look at the future of communications technology with a 'futurologist' from BT. They also learned about accessing funding opportunities and  chose from a variety of workshops aimed at helping them to 'up their game' in business.

 

  • 'What's Stopping You'.  Jack Russell, explored the myths and barriers to innovation.
  •  'Horizon Scanning; the Future of Communications and ICT' . Tim Whitley, a top BT 'Futurologist' give a fascinating glimpse into the future with real examples of innovation in telecommunications and emerging customer expectations.

 

  • ''Models for New Business Opportunities'. Simon Gough presented  cutting-edge business models to help delegates up their game and improve their financial performance.

 

  • 'The Future of Superfast Broadband in Somerset'. Matt Ballard from Somerset County Council gave an update on the Connecting Devon and Somerset Programme.

 

  • ''Fully Connected Business'. Kate Doodson from Cosmic presebred on  technology trends and more effective use of IT in business.,
