Boost Your Business

'Learn to pitch, learn more about financing your projects and discover new funding possibilities during this bootcamp for start-ups and growing businesses.'

Financing is an absolute neccesity for any start-up or growing business. This bootcamp, organised by Voka Chamber of Commerce on 24 April 2013,  looked to provid the necessary information and help delegates acquire the skills needed to use when approaching potential investors.

In the morning session Inge Geerdens looked at the ideal pitch to convince investors about the viability of a project.  Inge is a previous winner of a public prize for the best 'elevator pitch' in a European Venture Contest in Lisbon. She is currently jury chairman on the television programme 'Topstarter' on Eén.

The afternoon session focussed on new funding channels. Tom Vankemmel, Stephane Roelandt and Hans Constadt of the IT Company Ontoforce shared their experience of a recent capital injection of 1 million euro. They looked at preparing a financial file, what should attention be paid to and the possible pitfalls.

An innovative way of attracting funding is crowdfunding, which literally means 'funding by the crowd'. Entrepreneurs with insufficient starting capital can offer their project on crowdsourcing with an indication of the amount of funding required. This will enable interested parties to invest in the project and through the small investments from many individuals the entrepreneur is able to get the total funding they need.

Venue: Voka Chamber of Commerce, East Flanders. Lammerstraat 18, 9000 Gent
