2nd International Doctorial Workshop on IT, Service and Collaboration (WISIC 2013)

This event was run by Kassel University on 4-6 March 2013 in St Gallen, Switzerland. It aimed to bring PhD candidates from Open Innovation Project academic partners to address this key question:

' Does PhD candidates' research lead to new opportunities or to an increase in innovativeness for.of existing SMEs or does it even result in PhD candidates' which to set up their own business?'

The areas covered included:

  • Identification of business prospects for PhD candidates research.
  • How can PhD candidates' research benefit SME's innovative capacity?
  • Does PhD candidates' research lead to new businesses?
  • Does PhD candidates' research result in tools/techniques and business models that support the innovativeness of SMEs?

The academic goal was to provide an environment for in-depth discussions of participants PhD theses. These fields of research were covered:

  • Open Innovation and Open Service Innovation.
  • Crowdsourcing.
  • Service Engineering and Management.
  • Collaboration Engineering.
  • Strategic IT-Management.

The target number of particpants was 30 PhD students. They were joined by Open Innovation experts from the University of St Gallen: Prof. Dr. Hubert Osterle and Prof. Robert Winter.
