Preparing for Open Innovation

Preparing for Open Innovation

'Is your organisation ready? Do you know what practical steps you need to take?'

Free workshop:  21 May 2012, The British Library

The British Library and Quantum Innovation Centre (QIC) structured this workshop to help organisations make sense of open innovation and understand how they can assess their readiness to embrace and apply Open Innovation principles. It was attended by 30 delegates with a representation from organisations of all sizes from across the private and public sectors.

The workshop utilised the Innovation and Improvement Framework which has been developed by QIC which incorporates best practice and enables organisations to gain an insight into their current capacity to innovate.

The Framework helps organisations to address the following questions:

  • How do we embrace and deliver innovation?
  • How do we pul together all of the many components needed to deliver innovation successfully?
  • Where are we now? What needs to be in place?
  • Where do we start? What do we need to do? How do we prioritise?

The purpose of the workshop was to:

  • Provide a forum for a structured discussion about  an organisation's readiness to innovate (using one element of the Innovation & Improvement Framework).
  • Share what is happening within delegate's organisations.
  • Identify practical steps that can be taken back to your organisation to build an Open Innovation platform.
