KAHO Starter of the Year 2011

On 17 May 2011, the prize was awarded for the 'Kaho Starter of the Year' at a ceremony at KAHO Aalst.  This award is for alumni of the Catholic University who had recently started a business. The jury of six judges assessed the five nominees, and the audience also had the opportunity of voting for which of the nominees would wisn the 'Kaho Public Prize'.

  • Bart Van Impe (OORzaak, hearing difficulty solutions) 
  • Robby Baeyens (All Locks, alarm systems)
  • Nick De Maeyer (Aha Concept, real estate)
  • Kathleen Cuypers (Cuypers & Stockmans, real estate)

The winner of both 'Kaho Starter of the Year' and 'Kaho Public Prize' was  Sven Cornelis of Cornelis ICT.  The mission of Cornelis ICT is to offer businesses an efficient web-based planning system which clarifies the planning process and reduces costs. He was chosen because he succesfully combines his work with the company with his studies as an industrial engineer.

Liesbeth De Bruyn, researcher of the expertise centre for Entrepreneurship of KAHO Sint-Lieven said of the event: "With this initiative we want to stimulate the entreprenurship of our students. Thanks to the Start-up Cafe they now have up-to-date information about entrepreneurship. Moreover, they also get the opportunity to build up a professional network'.
